Nature Journaling: Capturing the Activity and Color of Summer!

Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2026

Time: Kids Session – 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Teens & Adults – 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Location: Sunday Park Pavilion 1

About: Let’s kick off summer with a nature journal! Bring your own or start a new one, and get ready to observe, sketch, color, and have fun—no experience needed. This session will be led by Carolyn Duckworth, Virginia Master Naturalist.

The kids’ program will focus on summer-specific nature observations, exploring what’s new this season through sights, sounds, and colors. Some favorite activities will return, along with new ones that highlight how nature changes over time.

For teens and adults, the session will introduce simple ways to track seasonal changes, including observing sunrise and sunset patterns. Beginners are welcome, and returning participants are encouraged to build on what they’ve learned while trying new materials and techniques.

All supplies will be provided.

Important: This event requires a minimum number of sign-ups to move forward. Please RSVP for each individual attendee—your response helps us ensure we have enough supplies and activities for everyone. For events with limited capacity, RSVPs also help us keep participation fair.
