Scenic Living

Enjoy the privacy and security of Brandermill’s uniquely designed community bordering the beautiful 1,700-acre Swift Creek Reservoir. With more than 80 distinctive neighborhoods featuring a diverse selection of architectural styles, there is a home in Brandermill for you.

Choose from a cozy colonial on a wooded lot, an airy transitional, or a glamorous contemporary home overlooking the lake. Singles and young families may prefer the convenience of a townhome or apartment living. Retirees may opt for the lifestyle of Brandermill Woods, a neighborhood featuring one-story cluster homes, luxurious apartment suites, as well as assisted-living quarters in the health care center.


Nature Abounds

Brandermill was created for the nature lover. Enjoy watching the ducks, geese, and turtles swimming along the shoreline; listen to the spring peepers and a myriad of singing birds. Observe the early morning activities of a blue heron or osprey or an exciting fishing excursion in the reservoir of visiting bald eagles. Take a stroll along the 15 miles of paved trails connecting the community neighborhoods, and enjoy all the seasons of Brandermill.


Resident Services

More than 15 miles of scenic bike and walking trails, with safe, convenient connections from one neighborhood to the next, wind throughout Brandermill, providing a pleasant experience for joggers and cyclists. Brandermill is patrolled by Chesterfield County Police and off-duty officers. Swift Creek Fire and EMS in Waterford serves the community, along with Clover Hill Fire and EMS.


Convenience

There are several fine office complexes, medical and dental offices, banks, churches, adult day care center, shopping centers, restaurants serving casual fair to fine dining, dancing and music classes, fishing and boating, a country club with an 18-hole golf course, pool and restaurant; tennis club with clay and hard courts, three swimming pools, gyms, grocery stores, hotels, and a popular seasonal farmers’ market all within Brandermill.


Education

Brandermill youth receive a quality education from Chesterfield County Schools, where an impressive percentage of its graduates pursue higher education. The community is served by Swift Creek and Clover Hill Elementary Schools, Swift Creek and Tomahawk Middle Schools, the new state-of-the-art Clover Hill High School, and Midlothian High School. A four-year university is located in Brandermill. A community college, university and medical school are located nearby and the Life-Long Learning Institute for seniors is nearby. Chesterfield County has some of the best public schools in the nation and, in addition, each high school offers students the opportunity to participate in optional academic programs related to special interests. High school students from Brandermill may apply to any of the special interest programs.


Activities for All Ages

The Brandermill Community Association maintains numerous parks, playgrounds, a basketball court and a ball diamond.

The Boating Center has paddleboats, sailboats, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, jon boats and trolling motors to rent. The BranderBelle pontoon seats 13 and is available for parties and Saturday morning cruises and comes with one of Brandermill’s friendly captains. Bass fishing tournaments are held on the reservoir in the spring and fall or try a little fishing anytime on your own.

Residents look forward to various activities and events for all ages throughout the year planned by the Brandermill Lifestyle Director. In the past, these have included: wine and cheese sunset cruises on the BranderBelle, Spring and Fall Festivals, Movie Nights, Trivia and Bingo Nights, Pool Parties, Fitness Classes, Excursions, and much more. Young and old alike enjoy the annual Brandermill Fourth of July celebration, including a 7.4k run, patriotic parade, festivities in Sunday Park with hot dogs and watermelon and a spectacular fireworks display over the reservoir; Holiday House decorating competition; Halloween costume party for toddlers; Family Campouts; Neighborhood Yard Sales; wreath making workshops; guided nature walks; yoga and meditation; doggie day at the pool; and a variety of seminars.

Outside the community are organized youth programs such as Little League, PeeWee Football and Cheerleading through Swift Creek Athletic Association and Upwards sports; Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer and River City Sports & Social Club for young adults who enjoy sports and socializing. Chesterfield County has an extensive pickleball program with facilities nearby. There are many clubs and organizations for adults and youth. Residents enjoy watching sporting events at nearby Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Richmond, or making the under two hour trip to Charlottesville for University of Virginia games. For those who like to play in the sand and water, Virginia Beach is two hours away and Water Country USA is even closer. Don’t forget to stop by Williamsburg to soak in some history, or to visit Great Wolfe Lodge and the outlet mall.


Golf and Tennis

Brandermill Country Club and the Midlothian Tennis Club are both located within the community. Brandermill Country Club boasts a scenic 18-hole championship golf course designed by Gary Player, an outdoor pool, and fitness center. Members of Midlothian Tennis Club can play year-round indoors, as well as on multiple outdoor clay courts.


Entertainment

Just a few minutes away are a 20-screen movie theatre, state of the art bowling alley, and roller and ice skating. Enjoy dining at fast food to five-star restaurants. Take a 15 to 20-minute drive for shopping at major malls, or enjoy plays, musicals, museums, minor league baseball and NASCAR.


Something for Everyone

There are many organizations to join for the social and civic minded. The Brandermill Woman’s Club and Brandermill Region Men’s Club welcome new residents and provide social and charitable activities throughout the year. Serving on the Neighborhood Residents Council or any of the many BCA committees is a great way to become active in the community. Youngsters can participate in a variety of youth programs or sport activities including: swimming, sailing, tennis, golf, soccer, football and baseball. For those who wish to find solitude, Swift Creek Reservoir is the ideal place for a getaway.
