Bass tournament raises funds for sight and hearing impaired

In spite of stormy weather, the BMW Lions Club Bass Fishing Tournament was held on Swift Creek Reservoir on Saturday, May 18. Twenty-three boats launched from the boat ramp at Sunday Park.

Over 137 pounds of live large mouth bass were weighed in and released back into the reservoir.

The father-son team of McSweeny and McSweeny won the four-heaviest fish category with a total weight of 15 lbs. 10 oz. They also won the largest fish category for a father-son team with a 6 lb. fish.

The team of Price and Puryear took second place in the four-heaviest fish category with a total weight of 13 lbs. 10 oz. The team also won the heaviest fish category with a 6 lb. 10 oz. catch. Third-place finishers were Lynch and Mozingo with a total weight of 11 lbs. 8oz. Fourth place went to the team of Kendrick and Wharton with a total weight of 11 lbs. 4 oz.

All proceeds from the tournament go to aid the sight and hearing impaired who live in the local area. A fall tournament is scheduled for September 21.
