Following a three-month nationwide search, the BCA Board of Directors has appointed John S. Bailey as the new community manager of Brandermill. “J.B.,” as he likes to be called, was selected out of 43 applicants who applied for the community manager position.

“He brings an extraordinary background in large-scale community association and local government management to Brandermill,” says BCA Board President Dick Guthrie. “He is well prepared to work with members of our community as we strive to further enhance Brandermill’s quality of life and to ensure that we have a well managed association.”

Bailey will leave his current position as town manager of Urbanna, Va.

In previous employment, he served as town manager of Orange, Va., and as the general manager of the large-scale Lake of the Woods Association near Fredericksburg, Va. Bailey also served as county administrator for Cumberland County, Va., and as executive director of Keep Virginia Beautiful, Inc. A native of Roanoke, Bailey earned an undergraduate degree from Averett College and a master’s degree in public administration from George Mason University.

“I am extremely excited about this opportunity,” says Bailey, “and my wife Meredith and children are, too.” Bailey says he is looking forward to moving to Brandermill soon. “Having had a history in community association management,” Bailey says, “the position is a perfect fit for my knowledge and skills.”

Bailey will be introduced to the community at the December 3 BCA Board of Directors meeting at Brandermill Woods, and will begin his community manager duties on January 2, 2013.
