Saturday, October 13 is the date of the Brandermill-Midlothian-Woodlake Lions Club Bass Fishing Tournament. The tournament will return to Swift Creek Reservoir and is open to two-person angling teams. There is a limit of 50 boats and the entry fee is $80 per boat.
A $1,000 first prize will be awarded to the team that catches the heaviest four bass; $100 will be awarded for the heaviest four fish caught by a father/son or father/daughter team; and $100 will be awarded for the heaviest fish caught. Additional
cash awards as well as door prizes will be given. Cash prizes are awarded based on a 50-boat field.
The Sunday Park boat ramp will serve as the starting location at 7 a.m. and the weigh-in will take place at 2 p.m. Only electric motors are permitted on the reservoir and each boat must be equipped with a live well as all fish except trophies will be released back into the reservoir following the weigh-in.
Half of the entry fees will be awarded as cash prizes and the other half will be contributed to the sight and hearing needs of the local community. This includes financial support to organizations such as the Old Dominion Eye Bank, and Leader Dog Schools and eye glasses and hearing aids for those who cannot otherwise afford them.
