James Yanovitch wins state titles

Three years ago, James Yanovitch was featured in The Village Mill for his innovative fundraising efforts to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank. The 6-year-old performed 100 handstands in his driveway and collected $676 from passersby for the cause. His hard work has paid off in more than one way.

Boxer Brief Battle 5k raises awareness; proceeds benefit colon cancer research

According to Turtle Hill resident Mindy Conklin, who lost her husband Rich to colon cancer in 2011, the purpose of the Boxer Brief Battle 5k run is to begin the conversation about colon cancer prevention and the importance of early detection. (more...)

Fishermen bring in 158 lbs. of bass

In spite of the difficulty in launching 24 boats due to low water levels in Swift Creek Reservoir, the annual BMW Lions Bass Fishing tourney blasted off at 7 a.m. Saturday, October 13 at the boat ramp in Sunday Park. The weather was sunny and warm by the afternoon. At 2:15 p.m., more than 158 pounds of live largemouth bass were weighed in and then released back into the reservoir. (more...)
