The Brandermill-Midlothian-Woodlake Lions Club held its annual winter fishing tournament on March 9. Thirty avid fishing teams entered the tournament with the top team catching five fish for a total weight of 20 pounds eight ounces. The largest fish caught weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces.
The money raised from the tournament helps the BMW Lions Club support the eyeglasses needs of the community. The catch and release tournament means that the fish are waiting to be caught again by Brandermill residents.
The next Lions Club fishing tournament is scheduled for Saturday May 18 starting at 6:30 a.m. with weigh-in at 1:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to enter the tournament should email Bruce Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Haiti Medical Mission
The Brandermill Midlothian Woodlake Lions Club collected more than 2,000 pairs of used eyeglasses to be given to needy people worldwide.
The Brandermill Church recently sponsored a medical team to Haiti, and the BMW Lions Club supplied eyeglasses and funding to help restore vision to many needy children and adults.
