Tennis has been an integral part of Brandermill from the beginning. However, since 2007, the Midlothian Tennis Club (MTC) has provided opportunities for playing tennis. MTC is located in the heart of Brandermill and adjacent to the Brandermill Country Club at 3650 Brandermill Parkway. MTC, the only club on Southside with indoor clay courts, boasts 12 beautiful outdoor and four indoor clay courts, two outdoor hard courts, and one practice wall. The club is also the home of three accomplished and friendly USPTA-certified pros with the highest-tested rated certification for pros, including General Manager and Tennis Director Feisal Hassan, recently named 2012 USPTA Mid-Atlantic Professional of the Year. MTC is ready to help you have even more fun with tennis while bringing your game to the next level. Residents are encouraged to check out the fantastic opportunities the club has to offer. The membership is fee-based. However, MTC is right here as a part of the community. MTC staff members work hard to provide a club with reasonable costs, easy access, high quality facilities, and first-class cutting-edge instruction and coaching. They also limit memberships, so that everyone can enjoy more playing time.

With summer just around the corner, MTC has a lot of new and exciting programs to offer.

New Summer Membership
Want to check out MTC, but not be locked in to a long contract? MTC is now offering a brand new three-month summer outdoor membership, valid June 1 through August 31. With your outdoor membership you have unlimited access to the 14 outdoor courts, no court fees, member rates for lessons, member socials, and much more.

Junior Camps
Junior Summer Camps are back again. The philosophy is to ensure that players have fun, and learn to manage and bounce back from mistakes, while learning and playing the game. Junior Summer Camps are open to players ages 8 and older and include on-court instruction, point situations, fitness conditioning, and point and match play. Camp weeks run Monday through Friday with morning, afternoon, or full-day sessions.

Toddlers & Tennis
Toddlers and Tennis Summer Camp is the newest addition to MTC’s options for junior players. Camps for 2- to 5-year-olds will be offered twice over the summer. Toddlers and Tennis Summer Camp weeks run Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each camp includes 45 minutes of tennis, a craft, snack time, games, and much more. Every child who is enrolled receives a T-shirt and prize on the last day of camp.

MTC also has a Toddlers and Tennis/Pre-Red Stage tennis clinic for 2- to 5- year-olds new to tennis on Mondays from 5:30 to 6 p.m. This clinic focuses on eye-hand coordination, balance, motor skills, racquet handling, and most importantly—fun. Red balls, 19-inch racquets, and a 36-foot court with smaller net are used, along with other fun equipment. This is the perfect clinic for your toddler to be introduced to the game of tennis.

Junior Program Clinics
Year-round junior clinics will continue throughout the summer. The club will hold Red Stage 1 (ages 3 to 5), Red Stage 2 (ages 6 to 8), Orange Stage 1 (ages 8 to 10), Orange Stage 2 (ages 8 to 11), and Green Stage (ages 9 to 12). All of these clinics follow current USTA 10 and under teaching techniques, which allows junior players to master their techniques before moving on to the next stage. If you are unsure of which clinic your junior player should attend, a time can be set up for a pro to evaluate his or her current level and determine the appropriate clinic.

New Adult Camps
Looking to improve your tennis game? MTC now has camps for adult players. The program includes technical training, strategy and tactics, strength and conditioning, video analysis, and mental toughness. Adult Camps run Monday through Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. so you have plenty of time to get home from work. There are three camp weeks from which to choose, and each week will offer one day of singles training, two days of doubles, and one day of cardio tennis.

Create Your Own Camp
This is a brand new program for groups of adults or juniors who want to create their own camps. You control which players are enrolled; what you work on each day; how long camps last each day; and which pros teach the camp.

Creating your own camp is a great way to make sure that you play with your friends, while learning and improving your tennis game.

To sign up for any of the camps or for more information on these or other MTC offerings, please visit www.midlothiantennis.com or simply stop by the club. Staff will be glad to meet you.
