BiasYesteryears Antiques and Collectibles, an antique vendor mall, has set up shop in Market Square. Owners Valerie and Eric Bias celebrated the grand opening on July 13.

Vendors’ inventory ranges from antique furniture and glassware to collectibles. Vendors who rent a space at the mall usually stop by a few times during the week to add to or rearrange their inventory. Staff members handle the sales and get in touch with the vendor if needed. A customer “wish list” is posted and customers will be notified if an item from their list is at the mall. Yesteryears also accepts consignments from individuals.

Prior to opening Yesteryears Antiques and Collectibles, Valerie was a vendor at an antiques mall. She decided it was time to take charge and thought Market Square was a good location. She enjoys the brightness of the mall, describing most malls as dark caverns. “This feels very homey to me,” says Valerie. “We enjoy meeting our customers and getting to know them on a first-name basis.”

Once the new business is well established, Valerie looks forward to attending auctioneers school in North Carolina.

The mall is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4806 Market Square Lane. Anyone who would like to be a vendor or has something to sell on consignment can call 804-873-6375.
