A long-awaited project at one of the busiest intersections in Brandermill will make life a little easier and safer for pedestrians and drivers. According to Barbara Smith, principal engineer with Chesterfield County Transportation Department, a revenue-sharing project between the state and county will fund new sidewalks and lighting in the area.
Smith says a tight budget of $400,000 has been appropriated for construction of approximately 1,400 feet of sidewalks and the installation of approximately 70 streetlights in the vicinity of the intersection of Genito Road, Old Hundred Road, and Charter Colony Parkway, and along Genito Road between Watercove Road and Genito Place. Smith says that once bids for the project are received, some sections of sidewalks may have to be eliminated.
Chesterfield County Transportation Department officials will manage the project, which is expected to begin in May.
