Fall Fun
The Swift Creek Elementary School Fall Family Fun Festival is planned for Saturday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. SCES students will enjoy a variety of games, face painting, temporary tattoos and decorative hairspray. Additional activities include a cakewalk, inflatables and Gator Buck spending in the prize room. Wristbands are required for participants ages 3 and older and are sold in advance for $5 each, or $6 at the event.
Pizza, snacks and drinks will be sold during the event by the Boyscouts. Questions may be directed to Erika Berger at programs@swiftcreekpta.com.
Math Night
SCES administration and faculty have planned a special night for parents on October 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. During this Power of an Hour program, parents will learn how they can support their children in mathematics. The focus will be on instruction with a math overview for parents followed by breakout sessions for specific grade levels.
Dining Out
Chick-fil-A Spirit Nights continue as a great way for Gator families to have fun with friends while supporting SCES. September Spirit Night proceeds benefit the fifth-grade team. The next Chick-fil-A Night scheduled for October 17, from
5 to 8 p.m. will benefit the third-grade team. Gator Families should be sure to let the cashier know they are there to support SCES.
Meet the Administrators
Principal Peggy Innes and Assistant Principal Bruce Fillman will host a series of informal meetings called Coffee with the Principal. Parents are invited to attend, ask questions and get to know the SCES administrative team. The next session will be held on November 15.
Magic of the Moment
Reflections is a national PTA contest that affords and encourages students to engage in the arts. The theme for the 2012-2013 school year is “The Magic of the Moment.” The Reflections program is an opportunity for students to be challenged to express their thoughts and feelings on a particular theme through their talents in one or more arts categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts. The deadline for submissions is October 23.
Jog/Walk Club
The Jog/Walk Club will meet at the SCES track on Wednesdays, 8:40 to 9 a.m., October 3 through November 7. Students must have a signed permission slip on file to participate. The Jog/Walk Club provides a
