Raccoon attacks dog in Huntsbridge
Posted September 5, 2012 at 4:45 PM, Filed Under: Front Page, Village MillA Huntsbridge couple reported that their 15-year-old Cocker Spaniel had to be euthanized after being mauled by a raccoon about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4. The wife witnessed the attack by the raccoon, which appeared to be ill. The family’s other dog, a Springer Spaniel, frightened the raccoon up a tree.
The husband called Chesterfield County Animal Control, but the raccoon had run off. He has set a trap and hopes to capture the raccoon and turn it over to Animal Control.
Residents are reminded to bring their pets indoors at night and avoid feeding them outdoors, which can attract wildlife.
